For people who are completely new to real estate investing, the following sites are de rigeur for finding your way around. I use these almost every day. What web sites do other local investors use regularly?

Allegheny County Assessment Web Site
http://www2.county.allegheny.pa.us/realestate
Tax info, pictures, building details, zoning for most Allegheny County properties.

Automatic Valuation Models (ie computer generated appraisals)

Professional Organizations
ACRE of Pittsburgh - http://www.acrepgh.org - links to vendors, contractors, property listings
Western PA REIA - http://westernpareia.com - poorly built website but does provide contact information

Section-8 and Other Government Programs
Allegheny County Housing Authority - http://www.achsng.com - uses flash
Housing Authority of the City of Pittsburgh - http://www.hacp.org
Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency - http://www.phfa.org
Federal Government, HUD (Housing and Urban Development) - http://www.hud.gov
