Hello,
I'm considering a property that the floors are slightly sloping to the center of the house. It's a small ranch. in checking the basement, I see that the main beam (wood) has bowed and has been reinforced (but obviously not well enough). The beam also is "helped" by 2 adjustable steel post supports.
Has anyone worked with this same sort of problem? If so, who did you work with? I believe a structural engineer would be the right person to consult on this type of problem to get a realistic estimate. I feel that this may be beyond my General Contractor's scope.
Hearing about any experiences with this would be appreciated.

Jim
