I'd like to put up some of those "We Buy Houses" bandit signs on telephone poles in the city of Pittsburgh. Are there laws on bandit signs that I should be aware of before posting?

Emilie,

We don't use bandit signs but many investors that I work with do and give me feedback all the time. Many municipalities have ordinances against posting signs along the road. Some areas don't bother enforcing while others will be on you immediately. If you do posts signs in an area that is very strict on enforcement you will know shortly after posting your signs. The code officer will call you and give you 48 hours to 1 week to get them down. If you don't take them down you could be subject to a fine.

Another concern is the liability of a pole worker having a accident due to your sign. I have never heard of this happening but it could.

Good Luck!

I was contacted by a code officer in Monroeville and he told me that it was a $500 a day fine. I removed all but one. It took a few months to disappear.
I never heard anything about it again. It has been a few months since it was taken down.
